The Power of Music

Mikal Masters began studying piano at the age of five and performed professionally for the first time at the age of 10 for a Kiwanis Club Pancake Supper. He was paid $2 per hour, free pancakes and the girls were smiling at him. He was hooked! 

  • Through high school he played for VFW's, American Legions, churches, schools, weddings and funerals.

  • At the age of 18, he joined a rock band that went on to win Austin Band of the Year within a year. 

  • He performed on two Austin City Limits segments.

  • Toured the United States with national recording acts for Columbia, ABC and 20th Century along with several other independent labels. 

  • Formed Sunbird Concepts Music Publishing Company in Nashville which currently hosts hundreds of his songs. 

  • He has done recording session work in Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Denver, Dallas and Austin. 

  • Mikal has hosted his own television show and developed a commercial jingle company for which he wrote and produced many successful projects.

  • Created the Tortugans recording project for which he wrote all 11 songs and played all the instruments and vocals enlisting Grammy Winner, Redd Volkheart, and Award-Winning Producer, John Inmon on guitars with the exceptional Brazilian percussionist, Michael Longoria.

  • Author of the book, Blindsight - A Quantum Life in a Human World available on Amazon.

  • He sits on the Development Board of the International Non-Profit, We Are One Foundation, for whom he has created a series of "games" called Bedtime Imagination - The Colors of a Child's Mind to help children go to sleep at play with the fundamentals of meditation.

  • With a Bachelor of Science Degree in film and public speaking from the University of Texas, Mikal is a Certified Motivational Speaker.

  • Toured around the world in over 30 countries performing embedded with American and British troops in some of the most remote encampments sleeping in tents and traveling in Humvees, C130's and Blackhawks to bring a "taste of home" to service men and women who had seen none in months.

 

    Mikal Masters is a unique, veteran talent that brings his rare experience along with an irresistible enthusiasm. He transforms every performance into an always unpredictable and interactive experience for his audiences. He brings a certain reverence for great and lasting songs that audiences have most likely heard a thousand times, and yet Mikal has a way of conveying energy to make the songs new and fresh. Interspersed with colorful stories and his own special version of “crowd work,” he creates an atmosphere that is special and unforgettable.
